5 creative wedding gift ideas for brides and grooms

Special to OneWed by Kara Horner of TheManRegistry.com

The wedding gifts exchanged between the bride and groom can range from something significant and expressive to something small and heartfelt. Whatever route you choose, there are many amazing options to consider. If you haven’t started thinking about your gift yet, here are a few ideas:

Honeymoon or mini-moon trip. If you’re considering postponing your honeymoon until a later date after the wedding, consider surprising your partner with a mini-moon trip to a destination he or she’s always wanted to visit. Whether it’s a quick weekend road trip to a fun destination nearby or a flight to another city, your romantic gesture will make a major impression.

Honeymoon side trip or excursion. If you’re planning to go on a honeymoon, the bride or groom can surprise the other person with a dream excursion or side trip. For example, if you’re taking a cruise, you could arrange a private dinner on the beach or book a helicopter ride to view some of the gorgeous scenery or landmarks nearby while you’re in port. Or if you’ll be visiting a specific country or destination, consider a side trip to a quaint city an hour or two away for another fun area to explore together on your honeymoon. It may end to be the most memorable part of your trip.

Something to be used on the wedding day. Want to give him or her something extra special to wear on the wedding day? Consider bridal jewelry or embroidered hankies for the bride and cuff links, tie tacks or watches for the groom. He or she can wear them not only on the wedding day, but on many special occasions afterward.

Wedding or honeymoon memento box. For a sentimental gift, consider creating a wedding day keepsake box or shadow box that can be filled with mementos from your special day, such as your wedding invitation and program, monogrammed napkins, fabric swatches and ribbon in your wedding colors, dried flowers, etc. Put another spin on the memento box by saving small souvenirs from your honeymoon trip, such as plane tickets, maps, museum ticket stubs, travel guides, restaurant business cards, etc. and placing them in a keepsake box or creating a framed collage of them. Here is a great example to check out...

Special wedding or boudoir photos. The bride can meet with her wedding photographer to take some sexy boudoir-style photos while wearing lingerie or retro pin-up-style outfits to present to her groom as a wedding present. Another option is to create a photo series of certain wedding photos and group them together in a special frame, such as a series of shots taken while you saw each other for the first time in your wedding attire on the big day.

How do you like these creative gift ideas? Which one stands out in your mind?
